So for my blog post, I wanted to do something a little different. I decided to collect advice from the “masses” on social media. I posed the question, “If you could give someone or yourself advice, what would it be?”. All of the responses I got are listed below. Hopefully they will inspire you.
- Always follow your gut.
- Don’t get advice for your blog post off of Insta… there are crazies on here! 🤪
- “Don’t have sex!!!” Polonius
- %?$#@ stop being lazy.
- Never let another person control who you are.
- The only person you can truly rely on is yourself.
- You are what you believe.
- Don’t pack more than you can carry.
- Don’t worry so much about the little things in life. It’s the big ones that matter.
- Stop looking for happiness in the same place you lost it.
- Take time to know yourself.
- Don’t be afraid of what other people think of you.
- It’s your choice, it’s all your choice, you’re in control, you just need to live your life with intention.
- Don’t promise anything when you are in love.
- Be what you are.
- Always think for yourself.
These next three pieces of advice came from one person. They are quite interesting to say the least.
- To children from the age of say 4 to 10 years, get your parents to help you on mindfulness meditation. if your parents do not know how to meditate, then do go to a meditation teacher. Meditation power the two lobes of your brain, in particular the one that deals with love & compassion and knowledge. That will help you in education now and when older in building mindfulness when in employ.
- To youth look to meditate at least 30 minutes to an hour each day in the early morning. It will bring you peace and happiness and the desire to help others too.
- To elders, do meditation at least an hour or two each day also early morning and you married life will become so beautiful. You will build compassion, equanimity, altruistic joy etc. in you which will help you and your family as well as where you work and help your colleagues to see the way you are and they too will want to meditate.
So since I’m not particularly popular on social media, I can’t reach the word count with the advice above (I actually did reach the word count, cause I got more responses, but that’s besides the point…), so I decided to ask my father a question.
Q: What piece of advice would you give someone heading off to college?
A: Don’t eat too much. Study. High school is easier. When you get to college it’s a whole bunch of smart people who will study hard, so if you don’t study you will not get good grades.
What a fun and creative idea!
