a deadline

Sometimes there’s a deadline
that we need to consider
because we can’t neglect
those who teach us
prepare us

Sometimes there’s a deadline
we cannot ignore
because of our class’ grades
we need to raise
or keep the same

Sometimes there’s a deadline
we shouldn’t overlook, but do
because of who we are
as we don’t recognize
the deadline
is approaching
quickly.

Sometimes there’s
a deadline
that nobody thought
existed
until…it expires
& then
the classes either panic or persuade
depending on the teacher.

   There’s always a deadline
       for assignments,
         we just
         have to
         decide
         whether
            we
          want
          to do
         them.
